An All American soccer goalie at the University of Hartford, Mike Ziogas began his involvement with organized sports in the McCabe-Waters Little League.

He played basketball and baseball in grammar school, high school, at the Bristol Boys Club and for the American Legion baseball team. He was a standout soccer player at Bristol Central between 1974 and 1977 and at the University of Hartford between 1978 and 1981.

At Central he led the 1977 team to the school 's only unbeaten regular season and a berth in the state semi finals.

At the U of H, as a goalie, he experienced three NCAA tournament soccer appearances. Hartford won the 1979 ECAC title and was Northeast 8 Conference champs between 1979 and 1981.

He still holds most goal-keeping records at the school including: shutouts, low goal against average, most saves, minutes and games played. He has three of the top five goals-against seasons ever.

He was an All-American Div. II selection in 1982, was named to many other regional and state all-star teams, and was invited to the Olympic tryouts. He has coached soccer at both the U of H and St. Paul High School and has coached in the Bristol Soccer League and Edgewood Little League.
